That footballers get paid about the same as GAA players and they stop over acting for 10mins after they score a goal, which is their job. Imagine if every time I got a result I ran around the lab screaming RESULT! Ok that’s just my wishful thinking.

There’s a lot of research going into athletics and personal sensing which is looking at ways to access to data relating to human behaviour and performance in health and sport. A friend of mine was working on a project where they were automating cameras to follow footballs, so there wouldn’t need to be a cameraman at each camera and that the cameras would automatically switch views between them to the best angle.

Football? That’s just about kicking a ball into a goal right?
Why do you need an invention? Probably too many already with goal line technology and whatnot. I’m hoping the next big invention might be “fan instruction” where fans can all vote with their smartphones where they want Mario Balotelli to stand on the pitch and he has to follow their poll.

If you mean football as in Gaelic, I think it should be a magic pill that can make Mayo win the All Ireland 😉

I think the next big invention should be extra time added to the all Ireland finals in both football and hurling. That would end the need from replays

referee based probably and something to do with real time video referee support. Imagine the ref with an ipad and the ability to pull up video.. and then virtualisation of player positions etc
