My favourite hobby is music. I started playing the trumpet when I was about 11. I played in a marching band and concert (no string instruments but we had saxophones) band. I got to travel the world and compete in competitions. One of my favourite trips was going to band camp in the US when I was 17. We stayed in Westchester University for camp which was pretty cool. It was the first time I got to go to a pool party. Another year we got to play in Disneyland Paris which was amazing. It was so cool behind the scenes. Now every time I hear a song on the radio that we used to play, I sing along with my trumpet part!

Another hobby of mine is to make things in my free time. I co-organise a free event in Trinity every summer called Dublin Maker. It’s where people who make things – anything from arts to electronics can come and show off their work to the public. Last year we had 3D printers, a giant robot, clocks that displayed instagram pictures, hates made from feathers, home made rockets. It was such a fun day. Check out http://www.dublinmaker.ie to see what else was there and if make anything, you can join us next July!

I like lots of different things – I love tennis, hiking and surfing in the summer. Music is probably by favourite thing all year round – but just listening or going to concerts…I doubt my tin whistle playing lives up to Laura’s trumpet playing 🙂
