That there’s so many different things going on.
I’ve opportunities to work on solving Ireland’s future energy needs and connecting new factories and businesses to the power system. You need electricity to work. This brings more jobs and helps the whole economy.
In my day job I can do complex mathematical studies or project management. I can also work in the control room and match the countries demand against generation in real time.
Electricity is the only thing that is used the instant its produced.

No two wind farm sites are the same; each brings its own challenges that need a solution. This makes my job very interesting as there is always something new happening each day.

Coming up with an idea for a product and then seeing it come to life. As I work in the R&D section of the company we are always working on new ways to save energy in buildings that haven’t been done before, which makes it very interesting and exciting.

The freedom (within reason) to work on what I want. I also get to work on problems that are an issue for our society, so I’m hoping to contribute to solving some of them.

The opportunities.. If you follow them it will be an interesting journey… For example a couple of months ago I visited aquaculture site in chile. First all I never thought I would go to chile and second as an electrical engineer in ocean energy I didn’t know anything about aquaculture… But it turns out they need energy to power their remote fish farms and energy to support the remote communities of workers… So wave tidal wind and solar energy mixed together can help them as well as reduce their energy demand.. So turns out I could help them.
